So sue me: I’ve been thinking a lot about leaving my job.
It’s hard not to—and thus hard not to blog about it at the end of the day.
It’s lovely, though—to leave for a good reason. “Good reason” requires some elaboration.
There are always reasons for leaving a job, but some are…well, they’re a bit unsavory. Not liking your colleagues, feeling passed up for promotion, disliking the work itself.
Asked to answer why, those reasons don’t lend themselves to straight answers. (Unless you don’t mind burning bridges or living through a really awkward moment.)
A good reason is defensible in a public sense, and hurts no one’s feelings.
