Block party. It’s nice to live in a neighborhood where your neighbors throw an honest-to-God block party. (Bouncy castle included!)
Jane. This documentary about Jane Goodall blew my mind—because I realized I knew nothing about her. No academic background? Had a baby living in camps in Africa? An incredible screen presence. No idea.
Wings Over the Rockies. What to do with a decommissioned Air Force hangar? Turn it into an aviation museum, of course. Toddler heaven, obviously.
“Boats to Build.” Guy Clark’s parable of life as ship-building was stuck in my head all week.
“A Word on Statistics.” A lovely poem by Wisława Szymborska shared by The Atlantic this week.
Journal as reference. Very happy, given that block party, to reference an entry from two years ago and dig up some names.
Gibbs. Nothing like shouting a random name over and over to make your toddler laugh so hard that they throw up. (In the backseat of the car, too!)
