On corporate values

A few months ago, I lambasted what is known as “template strategy.”

This strategic gambit (it’s not really a strategy) is behind vision/mission corporate speak.

Often, you see the full structure of vision, mission, and values.

I decided this week that, even though I still think corporate vision and mission are more of a fun boardroom icebreaker than something useful, a values statement might actually be worth something.

A set of clear corporate values has the potential to offer guidance when facing tricky business decision.

To go back into the office? To work with this client? To acknowledge this project team over that one?

All questions that are hard to answer—and where a set of corporate values to reflect on might come in quite handy.
