On 7 things from last week (6/12/23)

  1. Filing documents. A parental leave project of mine was to finally get all of our “household documents” in order. Car titles, cat vaccination info, tax documents… It was infernally boring but oh-so-relieving to have gotten done.
  2. Family road trip. We completed our first long family drive last week. A childless couple would have taken 6.5 hours; we took 10. But had some fun along the way!
  3. South Park City Museum. Despite a name that momentarily sounds like it might be on honor of the TV show, this museum in FairPlay (yes, in South Park) was wonderful. A series of historical buildings, exhibits, and artifacts. Couldn’t ask for more!
  4. North Table Mountain. One of my favorite Denver area hikes is the arduous ascent up the back of North Table Mountain, a 1/2-mile slog up steep grade. First time doing it this year!
  5. Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman. I’ve been meaning to read this for years, and finally dug in last week. A prescient, troubling, and very funny read.
  6. Tents. Forgot how difficult they can be to set up.
  7. Weathervanes (Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit). A dark but wonderful album from one of the best songwriters working today.
