- Draft No. 4 by John McPhee. I’ve already written about this, but I really enjoyed this book of meta-journalism.
- Textbook Amy Krause Rosenthal by Amy Krause Rosenthal. A lovely, whimsical book of jokes, observations, and oddities underlined by the sadness of the author’s dying too early at only age 51.
- Running with Our Eyes Closed. I didn’t know what to expect of HBO’s Jason Isbell documentary. Being a big Isbell fan, I wasn’t sure there was much for me to learn. I was touched to understand that the doc was less a portrait of Isbell, and more a portrait of a rocky moment in his marriage to Amanda Shires.
- The Weakness (Ruston Kelly). I love Ruston’s work a little less than that of his ex-wife Kacey Musgraves. But the album is great!
- Giant beer pong. Have you played? It’s hilarious.
- ChatGPT cocktails. Besides potentially displacing most of my useful skills, it can also create cocktails! Sort of. Our friends were amused and/or terrified at this premise.
- Easter egg hunts.
