On 7 things from last week (4/3/23)

  1. The Record (Boygenius). The first LP from the indie supergroup was bound to be good even if it had included no more than the four singles. A great album, which closes with a clever rewrite of “Me and My Dog,” my favorite track from the trio’s 2018 EP.
  2. DIY woodworking blogs. I’ve been on the hunt for woodworking project ideas, and have delighted in the expansive universe of highly detailed project plans on DIY woodworking blogs.
  3. Veritasium’s takedown of “learning styles.” I’ve always been a little suspicious of the whole “I’m a visual learner” claim, and this video confirmed that.
  4. Potty training. No comment.
  5. My first stretch of billable work.
  6. High wind advisory. Our home weather station recorded the strongest gust in its two-year history, at a whopping 48 mph!
  7. Tortilla face mask. Our family learned that if you take a tortilla, fold it in half, and bite strategically, you can end up with a face mask! Highly recommended if playing with food is halfway acceptable in your household.
